Pear and rye whiskey make for a fantastic pre-dinner cocktail. An aperitif if you will. A note about rye whiskey. For a deliciously low price, Dickel rye is wonderful in cocktails or on its own. It’s smooth and approachable for just about any palate.
Equipment: muddler, shaker, strainer, old fashioned glass, ice sphere
¼ medium sized pear peeled and cut into chunks
1 dash Scrappy’s Orleans bitters
¼ oz Allspice Dram
2 oz Dickel rye whiskey
1 pear slice for garnish
Place ice sphere into old fashioned glass with pear slice. In shaker tin, combine pear and Orleans bitters. Muddle gently and top with Allspice Dram and rye whiskey. Fill shaker with ice and shake for 15-20 seconds. Strain over ice sphere in old fashioned glass. Cheers!
